Nivea men’s product ads were usually produced with two target demographics in mind:
Straight and Gay. The following two images illustrate that approach. These also show how
much we had to cobble together these images to cater to the different markets. Notice on
the original images how I had to strip in a woman on one image, and then remove her from the
other.

Most of these images were shot in Germany without much input from the Agency. This
kept us on our toes as to what to expect in the photos that were shot. Occasionally I found
I’d have to correct bad composting done on the photographer’s source files. These ads were a
prime example of that.

Other work done is color correction, skin, eyes and teeth cleanup, then product composting and retouching.
